Battery calibration is a subject that confuses many people. Many people are uncertain of the steps that are required to calibrate a battery. In reality, battery calibration is a very effortless process, and everybody should be able to follow the simple steps. It is a significant process, especially where cheap Android tablets are involved, and it shouldnot be delayed.
These are some easy steps to achieve battery calibration:
1. Use Your Device as Normal
Whenever you buy a new phone, you will likely be shocked at how bad the battery life is. If you do find this, do not worry, as it gets a lot better. Use your new phone for seven to ten days. You do not have to worry too much about how you use it or how you charge. The crucial thing is that you get the battery up and down, from full power to low power, a few times through the 7 to 10 day period.
2. Use the Device Until the Battery is Flat
After the ten days have passed, run the battery in your phone all the way down, literally to the point of failure. There are a few things you can do to help this process along. If you've got a torch app, for example, you could turn that on. That will burn quite a bit of the battery. You might want to turn on WIFI, GPS, Bluetooth etc. Take whatever means are necessary to drain the battery.3. Remove the Battery for 10 Seconds and Replace
When your phone turns itself off, take out the battery and wait 10 seconds before replacing it.4. Charge Overnight for 6 to 8 Hours (while it is off)
When you replace the battery, charge your phone up overnight for a good 6 to 8 hours.5. Gain Root Access Using Visionary
You will need root access to complete the next stage. An easy way to get root access on a lot of phones at the moment is to use VISIONARY. When you run the app, it will give you the option of rooting your phone right away and an option to run it at boot. What this app does is gives you a temporary root. It is a good thing that it is temporary. A lot of people panic that they might damage their phone if they apply a permanent root, which you can do if you're not careful and don't know what you're doing.6. Delete /data/system/batterystats.bin
Immediately after you have got root access.Use root explorer to browse to /data/system/ and delete the batterystats.bin file. Android will then write a new variant of this file to the folder. After this is done, let your phone run down the batteryas normal. An additional way to do this is by installing an app called Android Terminal Emulator. This app is free and is available in the Google Play Store. Open the application and toggle the keyboard on. The get root, type su and press enter. A super user request will pop up. Allow access. We now have access to the necessary file that we need. Now type 'rm /data/system/batterystats.bin' without the quotes and press enter. This will delete the batterystats.bin file for you. Simple as that.
Now disconnect your charger and try to use up the battery right down to the point where it is going to turn it off. Then simply continue using your phone as normal and hopefully you will see that your battery life has improved.
